Dredging Superintendent

About the job

The ideal candidate will execute dredging activities related to, dredging, reclamation projects within deadline and budget available. Ensure high quality, safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage and be responsible the for day to day dredging activities on a project
• Provide the Dredging Works manager with input for the development of the detailed project plan. Ensure that dredging activities are executed as per project plan.
• Provide weekly report to the Works Manager on milestones, work/ done, progress, budget, issues and planning.
• Delegate specific responsibilities to dredge supervisor and Sr. dredge masters(s) and analyze their daily reports. Assess performance and suggest efficiency improvement activities. Identify risks and appropriate mitigations; escalate if necessary to Works
• Monitor , evaluate and control activities of subcontractors
• Ensure cooperation between project team members and a smooth data/ information transfer to internal and if applicable, external stakeholders
• Coordinate and plan optimal staffing for dredging related activities
• Cooperate constructively, efficiently and effectively with Technical-, QA/HSE-, Estimation & Operational Advisory departments

Qualifications

• Engineering bachelor/ master degree or an equivalent professional qualification
• 6-10 years in Dredging operations (not technical)
• PMP certification will be an asset
• Manage conflict, solve problems and mediate between different interests of multiple stakeholders

CSD Dredging Manager

About the job

The ideal candidate for this position will succeed in this role if they have both knowledge and technical depth about the company and the industry. This is essential as they will be a central person in the decision making process, working with multiple individuals across different teams when necessary. As a result, they will also be overseeing specific personnel.

Responsibilities

• Set up the standards of operations onboard for all CSD’s vessels. Supervise CSD Captains in organizing and execution of the dredging works, observing the standards to maintain safety management, efficient quality, environmental care and with as controlled and known risk to persons and equipment.
• In close coordination with [DOM], Technical Department and Dredge Superintendents to perform the tasks properly.
• Advice and guide Technical Department with regular repairs and solutions, for maintenance of CSD’s wherever possible.
• Assist with Crewing department to schedule, select suitable and skilled crew for the CSD.
• In charge of the CSD simulator, for training and development of crew within Dredging Academy.
• Improvise and manage the day-to-day works onboard. Implement standards and structures throughout the CSD’s in the fleet, to achieve uniformity.
• Reviews with the Captain/PM/WM/DSI, the most cost-effective method of execution and monitors the daily report on Actual V/S Estimated output.
• Monitors the report in detail, planning of repairs and maintenance of the CSD’s. Send immediate reports to Technical department and DOM where changes or adaptations are required, in order to minimize the impact over the operations.
• Closely monitor the pipe-operators and first skipper performance.
• Supervises the CSD Captain’s on all operational planning, day-to-day activities and execution of dredging works and Seeks together with DSI, Technical Superintendent and Production Department, the most productive way of dredging and dredging configuration.
• In charge of identifying talent and development of crew in general, in order to increase performance and output over the long-term strategy.
• Provide honest and valuable evaluations of the CSD Captains and key-Crew.
• Ensures clear and factual reporting of repairs/productions/operations etc.. by the crew.

Capacities:

• In depth understanding of dredging processes/use of dredging equipment/ land reclamation/ pipelines, cutter types, pick points etc.
• Ability to transform raw data ( CSV-files, loggings) into readable format and ability to interpret this format and come to relevant conclusion based on the converted raw date

Qualifications

• Master or Civil Engineer in Construction, Mechanical, Marine Engineering
• Risk Assessment.
• 10+ years of experience on self-propelled CSD with minimum cutter power >5 MW as a captain
